The Hands of a Pianist

The hands of a pianist are always dirty. They are calloused and cracked, and the nails never painted. The fingers of a pianist are long and skinny, with bitten nails at the tips. Pianist’s hands, mind you, aren’t usually very attractive.

Reading: The Book of Mormon, the Book Thief. Both amazing.
Playing: My invisible piano.

I press each key with sincerity and carefullness, as if they hold my life within their pale and black grasp.

And then, I aptly realize, that they do.

I smile.
